Sushi Jo Courtenay Japanese Restaurant (Courtenay)

Amazing food and service! Never been disappointed. Server brought us what we wanted before we even asked. Thank you so much for tonight’s dinner!

Sushi Jo was one of the best sushi places I have ever been to. The staff were super friendly and hard working to serve their customers promptly. Sushi came very fast, and was delicious and very fresh! Prices were extremely reasonable, and affordable compared to many other restaurants. Would definitely recommend Sushi Jo to anyone looking for sushi in the Courtney/ North Island area.

This is a pretty good place and I love how they add special touches to the dishes. Adding lemon to wakame was a good touch and the hint of citrus flavor which I haven't had with this dish before. The service was spot on and tentative which was great. The only thing is I was sat in the corner next to a fire extinguisher next to an egg set which was kind of odd. It's kind of nice if you want privacy while you eat because it seems like most of the tables are their own boots separated by walls.

Four of us went to Sushi Joe’s last night all first timers and the food, staff and restaurant were outstanding! The tuna and salmon sashimi was amazing! So fresh and very generous with their portions! We had one of their fancy sushi rolls and it was so delicious! We will definitely be going back again soon!

This is an absolute MUST do if you are in Courtenay! I was a little hesitant at first going in noticing that there was only one waitress- however she was so great! She always had a smile on her face, was always really quick with food/drinks (we got all our food in ~15 minutes) and all the food was very reasonably priced. Everything was so good and flavourful, cooked great, this place is awesome! Definitely go here!

Vibre Busy weekend and staffs able to manage food and service. Nice smile. Well done Miso soup The miso soup is a down side, little plain. I found no tofu and seeweed! Appetizer Tempura I like it that come with a light batter, crispy finish. I tasted prawn and vegetables without grease. It comes with standard dipping sauce Sashimi I like that they use sockeye salmon. Nice vibrat red flesh and better flavor. Tuna tasted good as well. Nigeria sushi Sushi rice recipe is pretty standard. The rice portion is just right for a bit size. The fillet cut is good size. Width and length and thickness is just right. I was happy that my server asked me about to have wasabi to be tucked inside my sushi I like the restaurant comes with many booth seating and this gave quite a privacy. Washroom is clean

Great food, I love coming here. Their fancy rolls are exciting and well made with fresh ingredients and great flavor. My only issues with Sushi Joe are: The staff can be a bit upitty for a low key venue in a small town. And it's not possible to buy a meal with a third party service (DoorDash/Instacart/Ueber). They also don't accept a credit card over the phone, when every other restaurant I've ever dined at in Courtenay does. Such limits make eating out difficult, when a friend/client who's not with me wants to pay -- which happens often in my life. These small details wouldn't be an issue if I wasn't spending $40-$50 to eat there (per person) every time I visit them.

For those who haven't come here and are considering it, or those on the fence, you need to come here, like yesterday. This place offers amazing vibes, it's bright and has lots of warm colours, and the staff is amazing. They were playing some sort of 2000's pop music hits on the speakers which gave me a nostalgia trip I wasn't expecting but was gladly accepted. The food is amazing. Try the dynamite rolls with real crab, or the beef teriyaki. Out of the park levels of good. Best I have tasted in the Valley for sure.
